Auchentoshan is one of only three remaining Lowland distilleries in Scotland, together with Bladnoch and Glenkinchie. The Auchentoshan Distillery was founded in 1800 and is located just North of Glasgow, at the foot of the Kilpatrick Hills overlooking the River Clyde. It is from here that the distillery produces the rich and complex Auchentoshan Three Wood.
This unique Auchentoshan Lowland Single Malt Whisky has been matured in three different cask types. Moving from American Bourbon to Spanish Oloroso Sherry - and finally Pedro Ximenez Sherry casks - Three Wood is a rich, complex whisky with incredible toffee and sherry oak flavours.

"Has a certain swaggering style. As warm and welcoming as a real Glasgow kiss... Nose: Deep and rich. Stewed fruit, raisins, molasses, roasted red pepper, violet. In time, there's resinous notes, tamarind concentrate, walnuts then cocoa. Malt way underneath. Palate: Sweet and sour. Pomegranate/grenadine, dried orange peel thick berry juice. Lightly tannic, treacle, black fruits. Splits with water (don't dilute). Finish: Tingling and thick."- Dave Broom, Whisky Magazine.
"Smokey aromas are layered with dried fruit and fresh wood, slightly sweet smelling. Smooth and rich texture is silky and coats the mouth elegantly. The flavor is deep with sweet undertones of raisin. Coffee, tobacco and spice on the slightly smoky finish." - Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2013.
Tasting Note: Nose: Blackcurrant, brown sugar, orange, plum and raisin. Palate: Fruit and syrup. Hazelnut with hints of cinnamon and lemon. A butterscotch sweetness adds to the overall complexity. Finish: Fresh and fruity, with long lasting oaky sweetness.
