FAQs
How should whisky be stored?
Like all spirits, our range of Australian whisky for sale isn’t a fan of light or oxygen — which can tarnish its delicate tasting notes. For long-term storage, keep it in a cool and dry area away from exposure to sunlight. If your bottle is corked, it’s best to rest it on its side to ensure it’s moistened to maintain its seal and doesn’t splinter when it’s time to pop it open.
What is the ideal serving temperature of Australian whisky?
If you love fine tipples and buy Australian whisky that has been distilled to the highest standards, many connoisseurs will argue room temperature (15℃ - 20℃) will allow you to discover its nuanced flavour profile. However, there is no wrong way to drink it, so serve it neat, chilled or on the rocks and sip away in delight.
What is the alcohol content of Australian whisky?
Australian whiskies are legally mandated to have a minimum of 37% ABV (Alcohol By Volume), though styles between 40% to 43% are very common.
How is Australian whisky made?
Australian whiskies are made similarly to traditional Scotch whisky. They’re crafted from malted or unmalted grain or barley that have been mixed into hot water to create a mash and extract its sugars. It’s fermented with yeast to create a wash and is distilled and heated in copper pot stills before it is matured in barrels for at least two years. Depending on the distiller’s recipe, they can add peated flavours and adjust how long the ingredients have been roasted, germinated, fermented and distilled to create the desired flavour. Sherry, oak and ex-bourbon barrels may also be used to infuse different notes into your Australian whisky.
