PASEO MARGARITA: 

CHICAGO’S MAGNIFICENT MARGARITA

The Paseo Margarita’s surprising mix of coconut and basil are a tribute to bartender Jacyara de Oliveira’s journey from Brazil to Chicago. Patrón Silver brings together the best of both worlds, resulting in a sweet and herbal Margarita of the Year contender.

Ingredients:

  • 45mL Patrón Silver
  • 15mL Patrón Citrónge Orange
  • 30mL Coconut milk
  • 25mL Fresh lime juice
  • 15mL Simple syrup
  • 5 Basil leaves, one for garnish
  • +Rose salt rim*

Method:

  1. Rim a wine goblet or coupe glass with rose salt and set aside.
  2. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to chill.
  3. If using a wine goblet, strain onto fresh ice. Alternatively, if using a coupe, strain into the glass without ice.
  4. Garnish with a basil leaf.*Rose salt rim: 

Add 5 grams dried roses to 30 grams kosher salt in a spice grinder and grind until well combined.


PASIFIKA MARGARITA: 

HOW THE GOLDEN STATE DOES SILVER

Bartender Samuel Jimenez was inspired to bring the cultures of the Bay Area together with something everyone can agree on: The sweetness of coconut, a fruity punch of pineapple, and a wave of crisp Patrón Silver in his Margarita of the Year contender, the Pasifika Margarita.

Ingredients:

  • 60mL Patrón Silver
  • 15mL Patrón Citrónge Orange
  • 30mL Coconut water
  • 25mL Pineapple juice
  • 15mL Fresh lime juice
  • +1 Bar spoon ginger syrup
  • +1 Bar spoon simple syrup
  • +2 Pineapple fronds for garnish

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to chill.
  2. Strain into highball glass filled with ice.
  3. Garnish with 2 pineapple fronds.

WILD ROSE MARGARITA: 

CANADA’S PERENNIAL FAVOURITE

A velvety mouthfeel and subtle floral notes were the perfect Margarita of the Year expression for bartender Makina Labrecque’s Wild Rose Margarita. The addition of juniper was inspired by her mom’s love of the perennial and Patrón Silver for its classic margarita flavor.

Ingredients:

  • 40mL Patrón Silver
  • 15mL Patrón Citrónge Orange
  • 30mL Cocchi Rosa (or Rosé Vermouth)
  • 15mL Simple syrup
  • 15mL Fresh lime juice
  • 8mL Bombay Sapphire
  • 2 Drops Rose water
  • +Fanned strawberry for garnish

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to chill.
  2. Strain into a coupe glass.
  3. Garnish with a fanned strawberry.

GOLDEN HOUR MARGARITA: 

PINEAPPLE MEETS THE BIG APPLE

Pineapple, turmeric and Patrón Reposado give this margarita the golden touch bartender Natalie Jacob envisioned for her Margarita of the Year contender. The Golden Hour Margarita captures the magic of a New York City sunset reflecting off the buildings with a citrusy and spicy twist.

Ingredients:

  • 40mL Patrón Reposado
  • 15mL Patrón Citrónge Orange
  • 30mL Fresh pineapple juice
  • 15mL Fresh lime juice
  • 8mLTurmeric agave syrup*
  • +Salt/turmeric/chili pepper rim
  • +Pineapple wedge for garnish

Method:

This drink can be shaken and served on the rocks or frozen.

  1. Rim a rocks glass with a mixture of equal parts salt, turmeric and chili pepper.
  2. Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker or blender to combine.
  3. Pour into a rocks glass (filled with ice if you used a shaker).
  4. Garnish with a pineapple wedge.

*Tumeric agave syrup:
Add 2 cups agave, 1 cup water, and 2 tablespoons turmeric powder to a saucepan. Simmer for 10 minutes, stirring frequently to incorporate the turmeric. Let cool and strain into a sealable bottle.


FLAMINGO PINK MARGARITA:

MAKING WAVES IN SOUTH BEACH

Sparkling grapefruit water adds an unexpected pop to the Flamingo Park Margarita created by Tyler Kitzman of Miami. Patrón Reposado grounds the Margarita of the Year contender in earthy oak notes while a spicy rim gives it the heat one would expect from South Beach.

Ingredients:

  • 40mL Patrón Reposado
  • 15mL Patrón Citrónge Orange
  • 30mL Grapefruit sparkling water
  • 25ml Fresh lime juice
  • 25mL Rich agave syrup (2:1)
  • 15mL Martini Bitter
  • +Tajín/sea salt/black pepper rim*
  • +Dehydrated lime wheel for garnish

Method:

  1. Rim a footed highball glass with the tajín/sea salt/black pepper mixture.
  2. Combine spirits, agave syrup, and lime juice in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to chill.
  3. Strain onto fresh ice in the highball glass.
  4. Top with grapefruit sparkling water and stir to combine.
  5. Garnish with a dehydrated lime wheel.

*Tajín/sea salt/black pepper rim:
2 parts tajín : 1 part maldon sea salt : 1 part black pepper


MARGARITA CALIENTE:

MASTERED IN MEXICO

Patrón Silver is the perfect canvas for bartender Adrian Martinez’ passion fruit and chipotle pairing that makes the Margarita Caliente come alive. This Margarita of the Year creation also introduces a bit of sweetness from orange marmalade to keep things interesting.

Ingredients:

  • 40mL Patrón Silver
  • 30mL Patrón Citrónge Orange
  • 30mL Fresh lime juice
  • 15mL Passion fruit syrup
  • 4 Dashes Chipotle Tabasco
  • 2 Bar spoons orange marmalade
  • +Orange twist for garnish

Method:

  1. Combine all ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice, and shake to chill and texturize.
  2. Strain into a double old fashioned glass with a large ice cube.
  3. Garnish with an orange twist.

MARGARITA AMORE:

WHEN IN ROME, DRINK THIS.

Underpinned by the oaky notes of Patrón Reposado, the unexpected flavor combination of apple and chili pepper come together in perfect harmony. Created by Bartender Cristian Bugiada from Rome, this potential Margarita of the Year offers plenty to fall in love with.

Ingredients:

  • 40mL Patrón Reposado
  • 15mL Patrón Citrónge Orange
  • 30mL Apple juice
  • 15mL Fresh Lime Juice
  • 15mL Valentina-passion fruit syrup*
  • +Fresh chili pepper for garnish

Method:

  1. Combine ingredients in a cocktail shaker with ice and shake to chill.
  2. Strain into a chilled margarita glass.
  3. Garnish with a small chili pepper.

*Valentina-passion fruit syrup:
Combine two parts passion fruit syrup to one part Valentina hot sauce and stir to combine. Store refrigerated.


DYNASTY MARGARITA:

THE FLAVOUR OF THE FAR EAST

The Dynasty Margarita takes the traditional Chinese ingredients of lychee and ginger combined with the fresh agave notes of Patron Silver to create a citrusy and sweet Margarita of the Year hopeful created by Jay Khan and inspired by Hong Kong.

Ingredients:

  • 40mL Patrón Silver
  • 15mL Citrónge Orange
  • 8mL St-Germain
  • 25mL Fresh lime juice
  • 8mL ozGinger syrup, such as Liber & Co.
  • 3 Fresh or canned lychees
  • +Grapefruit salt rim
  • +Lime twist for garnish

Method:

  1. Rim a rocks glass with grapefruit salt.
  2. Place lychees in a cocktail shaker.
  3. Add remaining ingredients to shaker with ice and shake hard to chill and combine.
  4. Double strain onto fresh ice in a rocks glass.
  5. Garnish with a lime twist.
