Description

The Story

Established in 1976, Petaluma is built upon the old-world belief of planting the right varieties for individual vineyards in a specific wine region. The wines of Petaluma are a singular exploration of this founding belief.

The Petaluma team, led by Andrew Hardy, see themselves as ‘custodians of the great vineyards’, with their winemaking in turn responsive and instinctive. This translates into award-winning wines from the best regions of South Australia.

The Wine

Petaluma chardonnay, white label delivers the vitality and intense nectarine and grapefruit like varietal flavours of a cold Adelaide Hills vintage. Stone fruits and citrus, creamy and lovely soft acid. A delicate yet modern chardonnay.

The Petaluma Chardonnay displays citrus, mineral fruit, with hints of peach combined with subtle oak. Varietal cool climate Chardonnay fruit is dominant, with purposeful complex winemaking helping express the diversity and freshness of a focused regional wine.

Petaluma use their impressive vineyard holding in the Adelaide Hills to produce a Chardonnay that shows poise and precision. Sourced from vineyards in Lenswood and Balhannah and then fermented in a combination of one and two year old French oak as well as stainless steel. The outstanding Petaluma white chardonnay delivers the vitality and intense nectarine and grapefruit like varietal flavours from the magnificent Adelaide Hills.

  • Halliday rated 88 points (2011 Vintage)

“Citrus and quasi-sauvignon blanc flavours are stronger than all others (notably stone fruit and melon), perhaps forced by the vintage.”James Halliday, 2013.

Tasting Note: Stone fruits and citrus, creamy and lovely soft acid. A delicate yet modern chardonnay.
