Presented in a boxset carry-case with a wooden display stand, this is the official selection of 6 bottles of the best single malt whiskies from Diageo (who own more than 50 distilleries in Scotland).
Cardhu 12YO (1x700ml)
Cardhu Distillery – previously called Cardow – has one of the most coveted distillery locations in all of Speyside, in Scotland. High on the hills on the north side of the Spey Valley with extensive views to the south, the Cardhu Distillery creates a single malt of the “thickest and richest description” as an independent tasting panel pronounced it in 1887. Cardhu was purchased by the owners of Johnnie Walker in 1891 and became a signature malt in the Johnnie Walker portfolio of blended Scotch whisky. Cardhu 12-Year-Old itself is characteristic of Speyside. It is highly approachable - smooth, sweet, mellow and uncomplicated and has good body and length.
Caol Ila 12YO (1x700ml)
Caol Ila is the Gaelic name for the Sound of Islay, which separates the island from Jura, one of the most remote and beautiful parts of Scotland's West Coast. The distillery is situated on the shores of the Sound, a spot originally chosen in 1846 partly because of the pristine water from Loch Nam Ban, which still provides its main supply. Introduced in 2002, the Caol Ila 12-Year-Old is a highly prized expression that continues the traditions of the distillery. This elusive malt is revered around the world for its sweet, smooth, smoky character.
Knockando 12YO (1x700ml)
Knockando Single Malt Scotch Whisky 12 Year Old is divine and aromatic Scotch Whisky. With the first distillery built in 1898, Knockando has attained a rich history and a notable tradition. Knockando 12 Year Old is a single malt that has become renowned as one of the finest, and one of few Scottish Whiskies to select whisky for bottling at peak maturation - rather than at a specific selected age - to ensure its perfection. With only 12% of Knockando being sold as single malt whisky and the remainder being used in various blended malts, this Knockando Single Malt label has become somewhat of an exclusive whisky rarity.
Talisker Port Ruige (1x700ml)
'Port Ruighe' (pronounced 'Portree') is the Gaelic spelling of the once bustling trading port on Skye. The Port finish combines Talisker's powerful maritime character with succulent sweet notes of rich berry fruits for a superb contrasting taste experience.
Singleton of Dufftown Sunray (1x700ml)
One of two 2014 releases from The Singleton of Dufftown, Sunray is aged exclusively in American oak casks, producing a smooth, honeyed and intense style of whisky. Sunray’s smooth elegance is a fine example of Dufftown’s honeyed intensity, golden and rich on the palate with notes of blackcurrant and heather honey on the nose.
Lagavulin 16YO (1x700ml)
The small island of Islay is home to the Lagavulin distillery, giving this whisky its characteristic smoky and peat-infused taste. Though it shares a coastline with two neighboring distilleries, former owner Peter Mackie took pains to ensure that Lagavulin would have exclusive use of its pristine water supply. The Lagavulin 16-Year-Old is a much sought-after single malt. This bottling features the massive peat-smoke that's typical of southern Islay, yet offers a unique dryness.
