Robert Oatley Signature Series Shiraz

( 0 Reviews )

The Story

The Robert Oatley Signature Series draws on a remarkable portfolio of vineyards nurtured by the winemaking talent of Larry Cherubino showcasing Australia’s most successful wine styles and regions. Bob Oatley’s mantra is that all wines should be a “darned good drink”, and the high quality Signature Series delivers immediate appeal, with satisfying flavours over an elegant frame. Each wine embodies the grape varietal and region in which it was grown.

The Wine

Robert Oatley selected premium parcels of Shiraz from around the Blewitt Springs Willunga area of southern McLaren Vale, where the hills run down to the ocean. Fermented on skins and matured in French oak for ten months. The unique blend of blueberries and spice work in the wines favour. The tannins work well with the stylish oak influence. The drop pairs well with prime beef, pot-roasted lamb and Italian cuisine.

'Deep red/purple colour; dense. Very rich, fragrant nose with lots of spice and a trace of pepper; but also a suggestion of stems. Complex and remarkably fragrant for a McLaren Vale wine. Big and sumptuous in the mouth, powerful and solid, very regional. Fruit sweetness. Luscious and fleshy, almost opulent.'' - Huon Hooke Sydney Morning Herald 2012.
