Hailing from Nikka's second distillery; Miyagikyo is located in the north of Japan’s Honshu island in the valley of Miyagi, known for its pure air and the quality of its natural springs. The Miyagikyo Single Malt is a refined malt whisky with a signature fruity and floral freshness. Single malts must be distilled in pot stills from a single distillery, from 100% malted barley, they embody the essence of a specific place.
The Miyagikyo distillery uses chimney and large steel stills, so its whiskies tend to be fruity and light, in comparison with the heavier Nikka Yoichi whiskies.  A no age statement single malt, this has an elegant fruitiness and a distinctive aroma with an emphasis on ex-sherry casks for maturation bringing added depth to this whisky’s charm.
Removing age statements doesn't always translate into a drop in quality and Chief Blender Tadashi Sakuma has risen to the challenge of creating a great offering from restricted inventory. This is a perfect NAS for those wishing to try the wonderful whiskies originating from the Miyagikyo distillery.
Enjoy straight or on the rocks.
