Description
This is a GoodDrop Fresh Drop… meaning we have bought an
extremely limited stockholding of this item which will not be replenished once
sold out. Get in quick if you want to try this normally travel retail exclusive
single malt.
This heavily peated single malt from the Islay distillery
was launched for the Global Travel Retail market. For two centuries, Laphroaig
master craftsmen have worked to shape the most richly flavoured of all Scotch
whiskies. This exceptional edition was created by current Laphroaig Distillery
Manager, John Campbell, to honour those who have gone before him. Left to rest
in first-fill, over-charred ex-bourbon barrels before further maturing in
large, new European oak hogsheads never-before used by Laphroaig, maturation
occurs slowly, resulting in a whisky of great depth.

96 Points – Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2018
“Almost Laphroaig in
concentrated form. The peat somehow seems intensified and ultra-acidic, as
though a different, deeper darker type of turf has been employed. Then there is
the saltiness also, which cries of a sea breeze in the same way as an
oystercatcher. The fruit is toasty, but no more than a hint under the shadow of
the commanding phenols. Soft and loquacious, this tells of grist yielding its
sweet, smoky secrets; heather honey and rising spices. A sherry butt away from
one of the best new whiskies of the year.”
Tasting Note: Deep sunset orange colour. Signature peat-smoke with burnt apricot and raisin on the nose. Palate of soft oak, notes of rich caramelised dark fruit and dried fruitiness. Nut, peat and oiled-wood finish.
