Description

Rich depth of stone fruit flavours with fresh citrus and rockmelon. The fruit integrates with the creamy oak flavours to achieve a complex and full mouth-feel with persistent flavours and a crisp refreshing finish.

Hope Estate was established in 1994 when Michael and Karen Hope purchased their first vineyard at Broke in the Hunter Valley consisting of 30 acres of vines on a 250 acre property. In 2006 their purchase of the Rothbury Estate property saw new life brought into this flagship Hunter winery. Len Evans the founder of Rothbury Estate was widely recognised as “The Godfather of the Australian wine industry” setting the foundations for what is now Hope Estate.  Finally back in family hands the Hopes’ have restored the warmth and magic that was experienced at the winery in its Rothbury days and they have transformed it into one of the Hunter Valley’s most renowned wineries.

Grapes were picked from the best block on the Estate and fermented in 100% French Oak barrels. After fermentation the wine stayed on lees in barrel for 10 months, adding a creamy texture. By retaining bright acidity this chardonnay has been made to age in a Burgundian style. 100% new French oak barriques support the fruit flavours and lend subtle sweet nutty oak integration. Lees ageing has accentuated the buttery malolactic characters. This full bodied chardonnay will complement both chicken and creamy pasta dishes while the crisp citrus finish makes a great accompaniment to seafood.

The Signature Series is the best of the best to be produced by Hope Estate.  ÃƒÂ¢Ã¢Â‚¬Å“For years I’ve been pondering what to do with the exceptional wines from the exceptional vintages that we’ve had stuck away in the cellar.  Finally I’ve decided to release the Michael Hope Signature Series,” Michael Hope.
