Description
Perfectly situated in the hunter valley, hope estate wine has been producing excellent quality wine, since 1997. The hunter valley heat definitely suits Merlot, which is fast becoming a favourite for wine lovers around the world. The signature series merlot grapes were picked at optimum maturity for enhanced flavour. Close attention and gentle handling during the fermentation followed by meticulous blending has resulted in a full bodied wine. Michael Hope says of the birth of the Signature Series "For years I've been pondering what to do with the exceptional wines from the exceptional vintages that we've had stuck away from in the cellar. Finally I've decided to release the Michael Hope Signature Series. As you'd expect I am only prepared to put my signature to a wine that I feel is worthy."
Made up of 50% French oak, and 50% tight grained American oak. This full bodied drop has aromas of Dark Plum and hints of vanilla and cedar. Serve with antipasto, roast lamb or turkey.
This is a full bodied, richer style of merlot. A dry year has given concentrated characters and complexity with typical hunter earthiness leading to a long finish. An interesting aged merlot. - Michael Hope
Tasting Note: A dense well rounded palate of cherries, plums, and chocolate with lovely flowing oak characters that last for a long time. Showing aged hunter characters of earthiness with great structure and complexity.
