Originally released for Travel Retail, The Glenrothes Robur Reserve is named for Quercus Robur, the official Latin name for European or Spanish oak, and contains a greater proportion of first-fill Oloroso sherry casks crafting a whisky that is spicy, fruity, sweet and delicious.

All Scotch whisky is aged in oak casks and the cask is the key influence on the final flavour of a whisky. The rarest and most expensive casks of all are Quercus Robur, from Northern Spain and seasoned in Jerez with Oloroso sherry. They are prized for the great richness they impart on the whisky maturing within. The spiciness, tannins and dried fruit character of The Glenrothes comes from Quercus Robur.

About The Glenrothes
Hidden from the main street in the town of Rothes, The Glenrothes is an award-winning Speyside Single Malt distillery and a pioneer in the whisky industry. The distillery lies at the foot of the Mannoch Hills beside the Rothes burn. The water used in the process of making Glenrothes whisky comes from two natural springs upstream of the town, the Ardcanny and the Brauchhill.

All Glenrothes Single Malts are vintage whisky, meaning the whisky distilled from a particular year which has reached its peak maturity, character and flavour, rather than bottling at a pre-determined age.

Tasting Note: Pale golden, clear and bright appearance. Nose of ripe fruits, allspice and nutmeg. Soft mellow palate, dried fruits and hint of clove. Smooth finish, sweet, good length and texture.
