The Famous Grouse is a supreme blended Scotch Whisky representing two centuries of heritage and distilling excellence. The Famous Grouse credits its peculiar name to the Red Grouse, Scotland's national game bird. As for the Famous prefix well, it simply is! Starting out as a somewhat cult blend, The Famous Grouse has gone from strength to strength and become Scotland's biggest selling whisky, with three drams drunk every second.
Both avid single malt enthusiasts and blended whisky enthusiasts alike have fallen for the Grouse's smooth and balanced blend. The Famous Grouse is handcrafted from a blend of Scotland's most distinctive single malts - including The Macallan and Highland Park resulting in a superb blend where, for a delightful change, the malts have the biggest say in the flavour.
89 Points - Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible 2018
"It almost seems that Grouse is, by degrees, moving from its traditional position of a light blend to something much closer to Grant's as a middle-weighted dram. Again the colouring has been raised a fraction and now the body and depth have been adjusted to follow suit. Have to say that this is one very complex whisky these days. I had spotted slight changes when drinking it socially, but this was the first time I had a chance to sit down and professionally analyse what was happening in the glass. A fascinating and tasty bird, indeed." - Jim Murray
Tasting Note: Golden, clear and bright. Oak and sherry, with a citrus note. Easy going and full of bright Speyside fruit.
