Cascabel Monastrell is a vibrant and deep red wine from McLaren Vale. Cascabel is a small and independent vineyard with a distinctly Spanish heritage which handles every step of the winemaking process, from crushing through to bottling.
Cascabel, which is a small bell used in Spanish celebrations and is synonymous with festivity, liveliness and charm – embodies what its namesake represents, fresh and lively wines with plenty of personality. Monastrell is more commonly known as the “M” in GSM blends, or Mourvèdre. Monastrell is a Spanish variety widely planted along the Mediterranean coast, making it ideally suited for the Cascabel vineyards, which are close to the South Australian coast.
In McLaren Vale, Monastrell has been a classic ingredient in the wines for more than a century and Cascabel’s aim in producing this 100% Monastrell is to showcase its remarkable adaptability to this climate and site, and its sheer drinkability.
Tasting Note: A deep, dark ruby colour and a spicy nose, with a touch of red currants. Meaty and savoury palate, with richness and vibrant tannin.
