Description
One of a pair of Auchentoshans' Global Travel Retail Exclusives range, the rather dramatically named Blood Oak earned its moniker as the result of being aged in bourbon and red wine casks, giving it deep crimson hues. It packs a punch of spice with notes of red fruit and ginger. Triple distilled, non-chill filtered.
Auchentoshan is the only Scottish single malt that is triple distilled. Distillation takes Distillers Beer from around 8% ABV up to 81%. No other Scottish distillery insists on triple distilling every drop - double distillation usually reaches just 70% ABV. This trademark signature of the house is done on all Auchentoshan whiskies for the following reasons:
- To distill away all the impurities in the liquid, so strong notes of fruit and citrus come through.
- Makes the spirit more prone to the epic woodiness that comes from the casks in maturation.
- This makes Auchentoshan the smoothest, most delicate tasting single malt scotch whisky.

Tasting Note: Deep crimson gold. Rich and enticing with raspberry, damson plum, vanilla and maraschino cherry. Sweet and tannic with burst of blood orange, nutmeg and ginger. Long finish with redcurrant and lingering warmth of oak spice.
